Virtual Career Fairs

2020-21 CFAES Career Fairs

Mark your calendar now and plan to join us as CFAES again hosts multiple career fair events this year. These events are held so that your organization will have the opportunity to interact with students for internships, full-time positions, part-time work, and graduate/professional school admittance information through industry specific events.

Registration and participation in this years Fall Career Fairs will take place on Handshake. If you have not already activated your account go to handshake.osu.edu!

CONSTRUCTION CAREER FAIR | Wednesday, September 30

*Hosted in Handshake (Virtual) | 1-5pm  Registration is completely on-line through Handshake

FOOD & AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES CAREER FAIR | Thursday, October 1

ENVIRONMENTAL & SUSTAINABILITY CAREER FAIR | Thursday, November 5

Preparing for a Virtual Fair 
 

**All students have a Handshake Account**
  • Use OSU e-mail to log in

  • Check out Handshake for Virtual Career Prep Workshop (You can find these in the events tab in your account) 

  • Set profile “community” by visiting go.osu.edu/HandshakePrivacySettings

  • Update profile – graduation date is important
  • Add a resume
**Career Development will review the document (within 2 business days)**
  • Make sure to register for the fair before it starts so that you can go in and see all of the employers profiles
  • Set you schedule beforehand... For the virtual fair you can go in and set time that you will meet with employers
  • Go to both one on one and group sessions
  • Have questions prepared for the employers you plan to meet with
  • Research the company... website, handshake profile, and reach out to anyone in your network that could be helpful 
  • Prepare your 30 second pitch
  • Dress to impress.. just like you would for a normal career fair 
  • Select and prepare your space... Have resume ready to reference | have notes you may want to reference handy | try to keep your background light and not to busy
  • Have your fair schedule available, so you can make sure you are staying on time for your sessions 
  • Follow up right after the fair!
  • Keep your contact and reach out in the future to keep the network alive
